Gainsborough will commemorate Remembrance Sunday on November 8th, 2026, with services organised by the Town Council, All Saints Parish Church, and the Royal British Legion Gainsborough Branch.

The community is invited to gather and honour those who have served. A Service of Remembrance will commence at All Saints Parish Church at 10:00am. This will be followed by a ceremony at the War Memorial at approximately 10:55am.
A Two Minute Silence will be observed at 11:00am, preceded by the playing of the Last Post and Reveille. Members of the public and local organisations are encouraged to lay their own remembrance symbols or wreaths.
“

"Remembrance Sunday is a time for us, as a community, to come together in gratitude and reflection. We honour the courage, sacrifice and service of all those who gave so much for the freedoms we enjoy today, and we remember those who continue to serve in defence of peace and liberty."

Councillor Richard Craig · Mayor of Gainsborough
Councillor Richard Craig, Mayor of Gainsborough, stated: “As Mayor of Gainsborough, it is a great privilege to lay a wreath of remembrance on behalf of our town. Together, we stand united in remembrance, committed to ensuring that their service, sacrifice and legacy are never forgotten.”
A representative from All Saint’s Church highlighted that the church will be decorated with handmade poppies for the service, which begins at 10am. They added: “At the service we shall remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in past and present conflicts and those who came home forever changed by their service.”
The Gainsborough Royal British Legion branch also extended an invitation: “Please join with us, the Gainsborough Royal British Legion, as we take a moment to remember the sacrifices made, in Service to this Country, in wars and conflicts both past and present. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.”
Road closures and parking suspensions will be in effect. Gladstone Street, Parnell Street, and Fawcett Street up to Cecil Street will be closed to traffic from approximately 9:00am until 12:00noon. Parking bays in the affected area will also be suspended. Road users are advised to plan journeys accordingly.
