Ludlow Town Council is inviting residents to join a series of events to honour those who served and sacrificed in times of conflict, marking both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

On Sunday 8 November, commemorations will commence with a parade stepping off from Ludlow Castle. Participants, including the Mayor, Town Councillors, the Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, and residents, will gather at the Peace Memorial for the Act of Remembrance. This service will feature the Two Minutes’ Silence, the Last Post, and the laying of wreaths by veterans’ organisations, civic representatives, uniformed groups, and local schools. A moment of quiet reflection will follow, shared by the community. The morning will conclude with a Remembrance Service at St Laurence’s Church. Road closures will be in effect between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM to ensure safety.
This year's Remembrance carries particular poignancy for Ludlow following the recent passing of Danny Mason, a much-loved Second World War veteran who had participated in the town's commemorations for many years. The council acknowledged his service and the loss felt across the community, stating his memory will be held with gratitude.
On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November, Ludlow will observe the Two Minutes’ Silence at 11 AM at the Peace Memorial. The lighting of the Lamp Light of Peace and the raising of its flag at the Buttercross will symbolise hope, unity, and Ludlow’s commitment to peace.
Further details regarding timings, road closures, and accessibility arrangements will be available on the Ludlow Town Council social media channels.
