Rugby will commemorate Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day with a series of services and parades, led by Mayor Cllr Nooria Sayani.

The Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Nooria Sayani, and the civic party will walk from Lesley Souter House to the War Memorial gates in Hillmorton Road for the annual parade and service. Representatives from approximately 20 contingents, including the Royal British Legion and uniformed organisations, will gather in Hillmorton Road between Whitehall Recreation Ground and Temple Street at 10:25am. They will be reviewed by the Mayor before marching to the War Memorial gates.
Members of the public are invited to attend the parade and service, which will take place from 10:50am to approximately 11:30am. A two-minute silence will be observed during the service. The Deputy Lieutenant of Warwickshire, the Mayor, and representatives from the contingents will lay wreaths at the memorial gates. Members of the public will also have the opportunity to lay wreaths.
The service will be led by The Reverend Canon Edmund Newey, assisted by Father Aji Alphonse. Wayne Perry of the Rugby No.1 branch of the Royal British Legion will deliver the exhortation, and the Mayor's Cadet, Corporal Joshua Tan of the St John Ambulance Rugby Cadets, will read the Kohima Epitaph. The Salvation Army will provide music for the service. The Order of Service is available for download from the council's website.
Road closures will be in effect in various parts of Rugby, Bilton, Hillmorton, Stretton-on-Dunsmore, and Wolston to facilitate the events. These closures will be in place at different times on Sunday and for Armistice Day on Wednesday, 11 November. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
On Armistice Day, Wednesday 11 November, Rugby Borough Council will support the Royal British Legion's tradition of a two-minute silence at 11am. Maroons will be fired at Whitehall Recreation Ground to mark the beginning and end of the silence. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
