The ballot, which concluded on Thursday 29 October 2026, saw 152 out of 164 votes cast in favour of the BID's proposal to continue its work until 2031. This outcome met the BID regulations, requiring support from a majority of businesses voting and the aggregate rateable value of their properties.
The Melton Borough Council oversaw the four-week democratic process, during which eligible town centre businesses reviewed the BID's proposed plans for the next term. The council will continue to collect the levy on behalf of the Melton BID.
The Melton BID provides local businesses with a platform to shape the future of the town centre, driving further investment and organising projects, events, and promotions. For the next five years, the BID plans to enhance marketing, expand funding opportunities, introduce cost-saving initiatives, and invest in town centre improvements.
These initiatives aim to increase footfall in the town centre, attract more visitors to Melton Mowbray, and encourage residents to shop locally.
