Timber bridge specialists Sarum Hardwood Structures have relocated from Lincolnshire County Council's Mercury House Business Centre to a new premises in Skellingthorpe, marking a significant milestone for the rapidly growing company.

Sarum Hardwood Structures, specialists in the design, manufacture, and installation of timber bridges, boardwalks, jetties, and related structures, has moved from Mercury House Business Centre in Gainsborough to newly acquired premises in Skellingthorpe. This relocation signifies a major step for the company, which has experienced rapid expansion since Jason Lumley joined as UK Sales Manager in 2022.
Initially operating from a home office, the company quickly outgrew its space. After a brief period elsewhere, they moved into Mercury House, expanding from a small office to larger accommodation as they integrated an in-house designer. This move facilitated growth by removing design bottlenecks and providing essential business support services.
Founded over 40 years ago, Sarum Hardwood Structures has traditionally operated without a dedicated manufacturing facility. The new Skellingthorpe site represents the company's first factory, aiming to bring more work into Lincolnshire, develop new capabilities, and create local jobs. The business has already begun establishing local supply chains, including a supplier in Gainsborough.
Jason Lumley described the move as the 'next phase' with 'more responsibility' and 'more potential'. He added, "We can see where we're heading now. We've got a strong reputation, we've got exciting plans for the future and we're looking at how we can create more opportunities and employment locally."
Cllr Paul Lock, Executive Councillor for Economy and Investment at Lincolnshire County Council, praised the move, stating, "It is fantastic to see Sarum Hardwood Structures take this exciting next step in their journey. Their success is exactly what our business centres are designed to achieve..." He expressed pride in the company's growth and its continued investment in Lincolnshire.
Lumley paid tribute to Mercury House, describing the business centre as a 'big family' that provided a professional and supportive environment, acting as a 'fantastic bridge' to their current stage of development. Mercury House is part of Lincolnshire County Council's portfolio, offering flexible office space and support for developing businesses.
