South Kesteven District Council has opened a 'Call for Sites' for residents, businesses, and landowners to propose land for future development as part of its new Local Plan.

The council's initiative, which opened on Wednesday 28th October 2026, provides six weeks for interested parties to submit details of land they believe could be suitable for development. This exercise is a crucial initial step in preparing the new Local Plan, aiming to identify available land across the district for assessment.
Cllr Phil Dilks, Cabinet Member for Planning, stated, “The new Local Plan will play an important role in shaping the future of South Kesteven, helping us plan for the homes, infrastructure and services our communities need in the years ahead. Understanding what land may be available is the first step in developing a plan that supports our communities and South Kesteven’s future.”
Following a decision in July 2026 to cease work on the existing Local Plan Review and adopt the new plan-making system, the council is now proceeding with the new plan. National planning policy encourages councils to identify a range of potential development sites, and SKDC welcomes submissions for small, medium, and larger sites.
Submissions can be made until 11.59pm on Wednesday 9 December 2026 via the council's website. It is important to note that anyone who submitted a site previously must resubmit it, as previous submissions will not be automatically carried forward. Submitting a site does not guarantee allocation for development or planning permission.
Further information and the submission portal can be found at www.southkesteven.gov.uk/call-for-sites-2026. For queries, the Planning Policy Team can be contacted at planningpolicy@southkesteven.gov.uk. Information submitted will be made publicly available.
