The initiative has funded performances of Over The Moon by theatre company Circo Rum Ba Ba for pupils at several primary schools, including Deeping St James Community Primary School, St Wulfram's CE Primary School in Grantham, Willoughby Academy in Bourne, and Meadows View School in Stamford. The production was also staged at the Guildhall Arts Centre Ballroom.
The performance, which combines circus, puppetry, music, acrobatics, and visual effects, aims to take youngsters on a journey of imagination and discovery. Local arts facilitator Hannah Peacock led creative workshops ahead of some performances, where pupils created space-themed artwork that was incorporated into the show.
“"We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to experience the arts and discover the creativity and confidence that live performances can inspire. The Pay It Forward scheme helps remove barriers so that more young people can enjoy memorable cultural experiences, regardless of their circumstances."
Schools reported overwhelmingly positive feedback, describing the experience as "absolutely magical" and children as "mesmerised from start to finish." The Guildhall Arts Centre's Pay It Forward scheme relies on donations to continue providing these inclusive arts experiences to children and young people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend.
SKDC works with community partners, including schools and third sector groups, to identify those most in need. Further information and donation details can be found at www.guildhallartscentre.com/donate/pay-it-forward.
