Two students, Khu Paw from Myanmar and Akam Edwine Aba from Cameroon, have begun online Master's degrees at the University of Northampton (UON) this September, thanks to the Mosaik Scholarship.

The students, who are unable to travel to the UK, are pursuing their studies remotely through the Mosaik Scholarship, a collaborative initiative that provides a full tuition fee waiver for international students impacted by the UK Government’s “visa brake” suspension. This programme involves eight other institutions, including King’s College London and Cardiff University.
Khu Paw, who has worked in education for several years, aims to take on a greater leadership role in developing community-based education programs in Myanmar. She expressed her happiness and gratitude, stating, “It gives me hope and an opportunity to develop my knowledge and skills so that I can contribute more effectively to education in my community.”
Akam Edwine Aba, a secondary school teacher, hopes to establish his own in-person and online secondary school in Cameroon, where the Anglophone crisis has made schooling difficult for many children. He described the scholarship as “a door opening that I could not have opened on my own,” strengthening his commitment to the opportunity.
Becky Bradshaw, UON’s Interim Vice Chancellor, noted that both students are already engaging fully with their studies. She highlighted that the scholarship is a life-changing opportunity, providing knowledge, confidence, and professional networks to help them realise their ambitions and benefit their communities. Bradshaw added that the University of Northampton values its global partnerships and diverse community, and is proud to welcome Khu and Akan.
