The event, part of an initiative to welcome new students to Sutton-in-Ashfield, aims to introduce them to the town centre and encourage a younger audience to explore the market's offerings. Visitors can view proposed rebrand designs and provide feedback on the market's future look and feel, which will inform its new identity.
Alongside the consultation, attendees can enjoy live music and explore the market's independent businesses, which include fresh food, fashion, gifts, crafts, cafés, and specialist retailers. The Open Day seeks to showcase the market's affordable shopping, food, and services to students new to the area.
Several traders will be offering exclusive promotions to students who show a valid student ID. Participating offers include a £5 meal deal at Websters Bakery, sausage rolls or pasties at Colledges Butchers, free screen protector with repairs at Phone Master Repair, 10% off purchases over £20 at Tina's Woolly Crafts, and special offers at Ashfield Cheese & Spicee.
John Bennett, Executive Director of Place at Ashfield District Council, stated, "Idlewells Indoor Market plays an important role in Sutton town centre, and we're keen to ensure it continues to meet the needs of both existing customers and future generations of shoppers. This Open Day is a great opportunity for people to discover what the market has to offer, support our fantastic independent traders and have their say on the proposed ideas for the market's future. We're particularly looking forward to welcoming students who may be new to the area and introducing them to the wide range of businesses, products and services available right here in the heart of Sutton."
Everyone is encouraged to attend the Open Day, which takes place from 10am to 3pm on Monday 2 November at Idlewells Indoor Market.
