Newark and Sherwood District Council has opened applications for the second round of its Community Grant Scheme, offering up to £20,000 for local organisations to deliver impactful projects.

Community groups, charities, and eligible Parish Councils are invited to apply for funding through the scheme, which aims to support initiatives that meet local needs and contribute to the Council’s Community Plan. Projects must be based within Newark and Sherwood, with extra weighting given to applications that address the cost-of-living crisis, reduce crime or antisocial behaviour, improve biodiversity, or demonstrate match funding above £5,000.
Councillor Paul Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and Community Relations, highlighted the vital role of community organisations. "We know that community organisations are at the heart of our communities, providing valuable support, opportunities and services for residents," he stated. "Through this funding, we want to help local groups bring forward projects that will have a lasting impact on the people they serve."
Councillor Taylor added, "We've already seen the difference these grants can make, from enhancing local facilities to creating new opportunities for residents. I would encourage any eligible organisation with a project that will benefit their community to explore the funding available and submit an application."
Full details on eligibility and the application process are available on the Council’s website. Applications must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 27 November. For advice or support before applying, organisations can contact the Council’s Community Development team via email at communityengagement@newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk or by calling 01636 650 000.
