Newark and Sherwood District Council

Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched a new Christmas campaign, "Come for the... stay for the night," encouraging visitors to extend festive day trips into overnight stays across the district.

The campaign aims to showcase the district's festive events, food and drink experiences, shopping opportunities, entertainment, and heritage attractions. It inspires visitors to make the most of the Christmas season by staying overnight, turning a festive day out into a seasonal short break.
Festive activities highlighted include the Newark Christmas Lights Switch On, a Seasonal Tablescape Workshop at Norwood Park, and performances by The Christmas Orchestra at St Mary Magdalene Church. Families can enjoy Jack and the Beanstalk at the Palace Theatre and The Arrival of Santa at Rufford Abbey Country Park. For evening entertainment, there's the Noughties Christmas Party at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall.
Shopping opportunities include Southwell Christmas Late Night Shopping and the Indoor Christmas Market at Clipstone Headstocks, offering unique gifts. Food experiences feature a Festive Wine Tasting at Norwood Park and a Traditional Christmas Lunch at The Renaissance at Kelham Hall.
The campaign encourages visitors to turn outings into memorable short breaks, with accommodation options including hotels, inns, guesthouses, and self-catering properties. Visitors can also enter a competition to win a £100 Newark and Sherwood Gift Card by visiting www.visitnewarkandsherwood.co.uk/christmas.
