The resurfacing is part of a larger £500,000 county council project to install four-way traffic lights at the junction, aiming to enhance safety and manage traffic flow in the area. Crews are expected to complete the work within the bus stop area, with the hope of finishing on the same day. To ensure the safety of the operation, temporary traffic lights will be in place between 9:30am and 3:30pm on Wednesday, and potentially on Thursday 5 November if required.
Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways, commented on the project: “This has been an important project for the town and it’s great to see crews moving on to the final resurfacing phase of the scheme. As always we’ll be doing our best to get the work done as quickly and efficiently as possible and crews hope to get it done in one day, weather permitting. It’s been a successful project, with crews also bringing forward a number of pothole repairs that were due to take place next year. This is exactly what our Roadmap to a Better Network plan is all about: tackling different issues at the same time to reduce disruption and make our roads better for the long term.”
