“"Like many residents across the borough, I am incredibly proud of the strong military presence we have in Stafford. It is wonderful to see service personnel from 22 Signal Regiment and Tactical Supply Wing (RAF) taking part in the parade. I encourage residents of all ages to join me in paying tribute to the brave men and women who made tremendous sacrifices in conflicts around the world. Their courage and service helped protect the freedoms we enjoy today, and it is vital that we continue to remember and honour them."

Stafford Borough Council is calling on residents to join Mayor Councillor Mark Winnington in services to commemorate the anniversary of the end of hostilities in the First World War.
Mayor Councillor Mark Winnington expressed pride in the borough’s military links and encouraged everyone to participate in marking these important dates. Members of the armed forces will parade through Stafford town centre on Sunday, 8 November, as part of the town’s traditional Remembrance commemorations.
The Remembrance Sunday open-air service will commence at 10:50 am, featuring a wreath-laying ceremony at the Borough War Memorial in Victoria Square. Following this, wreaths will be laid at the County War Memorial on Victoria Road by local servicemen and women. The parade will proceed through the Market Square, where a salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, alongside Councillor Winnington and other civic dignitaries.
Service personnel from 22 Signal Regiment and Tactical Supply Wing (RAF), both based in Stafford, along with representatives from The Royal British Legion and local organisations, will participate in the parade. The event is held annually on the Sunday nearest to Remembrance Day, 11 November, marking the 1918 armistice.
On Wednesday, 11 November, prayers and a two-minute silence will be observed as part of the Act of Remembrance in the Market Square from 10:50 am. This service will include a trumpeter playing the Last Post and Reveille.
Further information and timings are available on the borough council’s online calendar.
