Services and parades are scheduled to take place at various locations, including Stoke (Kingsway), Bucknall (St Mary's Church), Goldenhill (St John's Church), Longton Park, Fenton Town Hall, Swan Square, Burslem, and Hanley Town Hall. Most events will run between 10.15am and 11.30am, with additional remembrance events in Brindley Ford and Tunstall.
Residents unable to attend in person can watch the City Service at Stoke Cenotaph live on the city council’s Facebook page from approximately 10.40am. The Lord Mayor of Stoke-on-Trent, Councillor Joan Bell, highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting it also marks the 90th anniversary of the first flight of the Spitfire.
“"Remembrance Sunday gives us an opportunity to pay our respects to those who gave their lives in service of their country and to reflect on the lasting impact of conflict on individuals, families and communities. It’s important that we continue to remember those who served, reflect on the freedoms their sacrifice secured and ensure their legacy is never forgotten."
Temporary road closures will be in place around several parades and services to ensure public safety. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for journeys and follow diversions. Specific closures include Waterloo Road and Nile Street in Burslem for a parade involving around 40 Air Cadets, Kingsway in Stoke, Queens Park Avenue in Longton, and roads in Hanley including Stafford Street and Albion Square. Traffic restrictions will also affect Werrington Road in Bucknall.
