Over 1,100 young people, parents, and carers gained insights into local apprenticeships and post-16 training opportunities at the Solihull Apprenticeship and Pathways Show held on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at Cranmore Park.

The event showcased a range of pathways available after GCSEs, including apprenticeships up to degree level, Supported Internships, and technical education such as BTECs and T Levels. Employers and training providers from sectors including construction, finance, creative industries, and engineering were present to share their programmes.
Exhibitors such as JLR, Paragon Bank, Balfour Beatty VINCI, British Airways, Rolls Royce, Solihull College & University Centre, Reflections Training Academy, Heart of England Training, British Army, Mencap Training Academy, and Solihull Council participated. Current apprentices shared their experiences to inspire attendees to explore diverse career paths.
Lisa Wright, Electrical Training Officer at Birmingham Electrical Training, noted the significant interest in their offerings, stating, “Many young people are not sure about what they want to do when they leave school, so events like this are really good for them to gain an insight into opportunities available to them in the future.”
The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr Sardul Singh Marwa MBE JP, expressed his amazement at the young people's enthusiasm. He highlighted the importance of bringing training providers and employers together to help young people make informed decisions about their future steps after GCSEs and thanked all participants.
Organised by Solihull Careers Hub, part of the Council’s Employment and Skills team, the show aims to support schools and colleges in providing tailored careers advice. Residents and employers can find more information about support services on the website www.solihull.gov.uk/est-support.
