Students on the Level 2 Barbering and Level 3 Hairdressing courses at Loughborough College participated in two intensive masterclasses last week. The sessions featured alumnae Alice Henley O’Sullivan and Tye-Jessica Crozier, who visited the Radmoor Salon to provide live demonstrations and engage in Q&A sessions about their careers.
Alice, who completed her Level 2 and Level 3 Barbering qualifications at the college before graduating in 2022, is now a full-time barber in Nottingham. After demonstrating techniques on fellow alumnus Rhys Turner, Alice discussed her transition from student to professional, emphasising the importance of foundational skills, the college's role in her career, and the value of continuous learning.
Tye-Jessica, a former student who earned her Level 2 and Level 3 Women’s Hairdressing qualifications in 2025, visited the hairdressing students. Now specialising in bridal hair, she led an interactive hair-up demonstration workshop and offered advice on entering the industry.
Kerie Mooney, Hairdressing and Barbering Lecturer at Loughborough College, expressed pride in the alumnae's achievements. "It’s been fantastic welcoming both Alice and Tye-Jessica back to the salon and to see their work in action," Mooney stated. "They both shared some invaluable advice with our students, and we couldn’t be prouder of either of them."
Mooney also hinted at Alice's potential future in teaching, noting that her barbershop is considering opening an academy in Nottingham, with Alice expressing interest in educating the next generation of barbers.
These visits are part of ongoing enrichment opportunities for Hairdressing, Barbering, and Beauty Therapy students at Loughborough College Group. The department recently received a grant from the Turing Scheme to support international educational visits to Bali and Spain. Additionally, the Beauty Therapy departments at Loughborough and Stephenson College have achieved the Platinum College of Excellence certification from Ragdale Hall Spa.
