Organised by Charnwood Borough Council, the historic event continues a tradition that has been part of Loughborough's history for over eight centuries. The fair is expected to attract thousands of residents and visitors, contributing to a vibrant atmosphere in the town centre and supporting local businesses.
Cllr Jennifer Tillotson, the Council’s Lead Member for Economic Development, Regeneration and Town Centres, stated, "Loughborough Fair is one of the town's most cherished traditions and we are delighted to welcome it back for its 805th year. Each year the fair attracts thousands of residents and visitors, helping to create a vibrant atmosphere in the town centre while supporting local businesses. Loughborough is a place where history remains alive and events such as the fair continue to bring our communities together. We look forward to welcoming people from across the borough and beyond to enjoy everything the fair has to offer."
The fair will occupy its traditional locations, including Market Place, Granby Street car park, Cattle Market, Ward’s End, and Bedford Square. The expansion into Derby Square and further along Swan Street from last year will be repeated.
The fair will be officially opened at 5pm on Wednesday 11 November by the Mayor of Charnwood, Cllr Colin Hamilton, who will read the traditional fair proclamation. To facilitate setup, Granby Street car park will close from the afternoon of Monday 9 November, with Ward’s End and Bedford Square car parks closing from the afternoon of Tuesday 10 November. The Beehive Lane multi-storey and Southfield Road car parks will remain open, as will the Southfield Offices car park outside council hours.
Charnwood Borough Council is collaborating with partners, including the police, to ensure the event's safety and enjoyment.
Opening times are: Wednesday 11 November: 5pm to 11pm; Thursday 12 November: 12pm to 11pm; Friday 13 November: 11am to 11pm; Saturday 14 November: 11am to 11pm.
