Residents across Oadby & Wigston are invited to attend Remembrance parades and services in Wigston, South Wigston, and Oadby throughout November to honour those who have served.

Parades and church services will take place in Wigston, South Wigston, and Oadby on Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, offering an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have defended freedoms and protected the way of life.
The Wigston parade, organised by Oadby & Wigston Borough Council (OWBC), commences at 10:30am. It will proceed from Elizabeth Court, opposite Peace Memorial Park, to All Saints’ Church, followed by a service inside. The Oadby parade, organised by the Oadby Royal British Legion, starts at 2pm from Sandhurst Street car park, travelling along The Parade to St Peter’s Church for a service.
In South Wigston, a Remembrance Service will be held at St Thomas the Apostle Church from 10am on Sunday, 8 November, with the Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial on Blaby Road at 10:55am. Road closures will be in effect around these events, and motorists are advised to plan their journeys.
Remembrance Day itself will be marked with a service at 10:50am on Wednesday, 11 November, at Peace Memorial Park, Wigston, organised by OWBC. Community groups or individuals wishing to participate in the parades should contact communications@oadby-wigston.gov.uk.

"Every year the country unites to commemorate the fallen on Remembrance Sunday. The Royal British Legion leads the nationwide parades, and I am proud to say Oadby doesn't fall shy, so please join us on Sunday 8 November. We are grateful to those who parade their medals and march and for those who watch and support. Your Royal British Legion thanks you all."

Sandra Smith · Branch Chair at Oadby Royal British Legion
