A modern, interactive water play area is to be installed at Stamford Leisure Pool, replacing the old flume which is beyond economic repair. The new facility is designed to be bright and colourful, aiming to capture the imagination of young people and provide learning through play.
The interactive water factory will feature tipping buckets, water jets, water wheels, and a wet play area, catering to children of all ages and ability groups. A spokesperson for South Kesteven District Council (SKDC) stated, “We’re looking forward to welcoming children in to explore and discover their watery environment, with water channels, interactive cannon jets and a triple-lane toddler slide.”
The £190,000 investment is funded from the council’s Leisure Investment Reserve. The removal of the existing flume will take approximately two weeks and will be conducted outside of the centre’s operational hours to minimise disruption to the public.
Construction work in the beach area will necessitate draining and refilling the play pool, which will temporarily close it. The exact dates for this closure are yet to be confirmed. This upgrade follows a recent refurbishment of the changing areas at the leisure pool complex as part of a wider district-wide leisure centre improvement programme.
