The Alfred East Gallery in Kettering has reopened its doors to the public for the first time since 2020, following a six-year closure and extensive refurbishment.

The gallery welcomed residents and visitors this morning, 24 October 2026. During the closure period, significant developments included the construction of a new flexible event space, replacement of the gallery and library roofs, and ongoing care of the collections. The gallery's outreach programme also received recognition, winning an award in 2025.
A stakeholder event was held last night to mark the project's completion. The highlight of the reopening is the exhibition Faces and Places, showcasing curated artworks from Kettering’s collection and new acquisitions. This exhibition runs until Saturday 9 January 2027 in the East Gallery and until Saturday 27 February 2027 in the West Gallery.
The North Gallery features two exhibitions demonstrating the Kettering community's continued engagement with art during the closure. Cllr Greg Wilcox, North Northamptonshire Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Rural Affairs, thanked the public for their patience and support.
Cllr Martin Griffiths, Leader of the Council, described the reopening as a significant day for Kettering, highlighting the gallery's new branding and its intended use for displaying art. The gallery's reopening aligns with the North Northamptonshire Cultural Masterplan and Tourism Strategy.
The gallery will be open from 10am - 4pm on Sunday, and thereafter from 10am - 4pm, Tuesday - Saturday. The Alfred East Gallery is also active on Facebook.
