West Northamptonshire Council is seeking formal feedback on its draft Road Safety Strategy, a long-term plan designed to make the transport network safer and reduce collisions across the region. The strategy, which aims to be implemented by 2045, was developed using collision data analysis, national policy insights, and input from Town and Parish Councils, as well as the Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance.
In 2025, 134 individuals were killed or seriously injured on local roads. The draft strategy seeks to address this by building confidence for all road users, regardless of their mode of travel.
The consultation period commenced today and will conclude on Sunday, 6 December, at 11:59 pm. The draft strategy document is accessible on the council's consultation page, where an online survey can also be completed to submit comments.
To assist respondents, a Frequently Asked Questions section is available on the consultation page. Additionally, a virtual drop-in session will be held via Microsoft Teams on Monday, 23 November, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am. This session will feature a brief presentation followed by a Q&A opportunity. Those wishing to attend should email LocalTransportPlan@westnorthants.gov.uk to receive a joining link.
