Murals depicting Hucknall's history and welcoming visitors are being painted on buildings in the town centre.
Designs for two new murals, set to be painted on Chapel Street and Central Walk in Hucknall, have been revealed by Ashfield District Council.
The murals are part of a wider programme of improvements aimed at enhancing the pedestrian links between Piggins Croft and Hucknall high street. Two locally based artists, whose identities will be disclosed during the painting process, were selected through a tender to create the public art.
On Chapel Street, a striking mural will adorn the building facing B&M. This artwork will showcase famous figures from Hucknall’s history, narrating the town's story through a vibrant graphic style designed to bring vitality and brightness to the street.
Additionally, all four gable ends of The Range on Central Walk will feature mini murals designed to welcome visitors to Hucknall. These artworks, painted in an illustrative style, will serve as the final touch to the transformation of Central Walk.
The painting of the murals is anticipated to commence in the coming weeks.

"We are extremely excited to be able to share these designs for Central Walk and Chapel Street. Thriving town centres need to offer a variety of attractions, not just places to shop and eat, and public art plays a huge role in shaping the feel of a town. We are proud of Hucknall’s heritage and we wanted to see that reflected on the high street."

"It’s great to see these designs coming forward. Hucknall has a proud history, and we should celebrate it. I’m particularly pleased to see Chapel Street getting some attention. People want a town centre that looks welcoming, feels cared for and is somewhere we can all be proud of. Hopefully, these murals will bring some much-needed colour and character to our streets for residents and visitors to enjoy."
