The Ludlow Winter Festival is set to return from 27–29 November, transforming the town with festive cheer, music, food, family activities, and winter magic. The programme spans multiple venues including Ludlow Castle, Events Square, St Laurence’s Church, and Ludlow Brewery, featuring both new attractions and returning favourites.
Under the signature theme for 2026, “Where winter nights meet countryside lights,” the festival highlights the resilience of Ludlow’s rural community, particularly after a challenging year for farmers and local producers. This theme underscores the connection between the town and its surrounding countryside, celebrating those who grow and make local produce. Traditions like the Orleton YFC Tractor Run and a new ‘Slow Food Christmas Fiesta’ reinforce this community bond.
Festivities commence on Friday 27 November with Late Night Shopping across Ludlow’s independent retailers. Later, St Laurence’s Church will host a music and social evening, while the Rotary Club Tree of Light will be illuminated in Castle Gardens by the Mayor of Ludlow. The Orleton YFC Tractor Run will parade through the town, and Ludlow Brewery will feature a ticketed Waterloo ABBA Tribute event.
Saturday 28 November promises a vibrant day with events such as the Christmas Fayre at the Methodist Church and a Winter Craft Fair at St Laurence’s Church. The new Slow Food Christmas Fiesta, held at Ludlow Castle from 10am to 6pm, will showcase artisan producers and seasonal flavours, with special guests including Kate Humble and Clare Thomson.
Events Square will host ‘Christmas on the Square’ from midday, featuring live performances by the Ludlow Concert Band, Mimi Heart, Stephen Russell, Kurt Bray, and the panto cast. Children can meet Father Christmas at Ludlow College from 2–4pm. The town’s Christmas Lights will be switched on at 5:30pm, hosted by Sunshine Radio.
The festival concludes on Sunday with a family-friendly day in Events Square, featuring market stalls, street food, live music from JB Disco and Macy-O, and children’s activities. St Laurence’s Church will host an Advent Carol Service later in the day. Additional festive activities will continue throughout December, including the Avenue of Christmas Trees at Ludlow Castle and various town trails.
The Ludlow Winter Festival is a cherished seasonal celebration, offering a diverse range of events across multiple venues, many of which are free to attend.
