The Staffordshire County Council highways scheme will see the route resurfaced from the junction of Ashby Road, past the Bretby Lane roundabout, and extending to the South Derbyshire boundary. As part of the initiative, the junctions of Moat Bank, Melbourne Avenue, and Empire Road will also receive new surfacing.
Work is scheduled to start on Monday 12 October. For the initial month, temporary traffic lights will be in operation. Subsequently, the project will transition to full road closures between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm to complete the resurfacing. The road will be accessible outside of these working hours.
A clearly signed diversion route will be established, and personnel will be available to assist drivers requiring access to properties within the closure areas.
“"I’m pleased to see this major investment in Bretby Lane getting underway. It’s an important route for people travelling in and around Burton, so giving it a new surface will make a real difference to everyone who uses it."
Peter Mason, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Strategic Highways, commented on the project, stating, “This scheme is also a good example of our Highways Roadmap to a Better Network approach. We’re looking at the whole area and carrying out different repairs and improvements at the same time, rather than having to come back and disrupt residents and road users again in the future. We know roadworks can be frustrating, but this work will leave Bretby Lane and the nearby junctions in much better condition for the years ahead.”
