Residents of Newcastle-under-Lyme are invited to contribute to the design of a new £135,000 pump track at Lyme Valley Parkway, with public engagement sessions scheduled for October and November.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council is collaborating with specialist contractors Clark & Kent to develop plans for a contemporary pump track. This new facility aims to cater to cyclists, skateboarders, and scooter riders of all ages and skill levels, replacing the current BMX track with a purpose-built circuit featuring rollers, banked turns, and flowing bends. A new seating area for families and spectators is also planned.
This investment is part of the Council’s broader initiative to enhance parks, play areas, and green spaces across the borough, fostering active lifestyles for children and young people, providing spaces for families, and instilling community pride. The new facility is anticipated to open in spring 2027.
Two public engagement sessions are organised for residents to view the proposals, ask questions, and speak with representatives from Clark & Kent. These sessions will be held on Monday 26 October, from 4pm to 6pm, in the Astley Room, Castle House, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and on Saturday 14 November, from 10am to 12pm, at the existing BMX track, Lyme Valley Parkway.
Feedback can also be submitted online via the Council’s website until Friday, 27 November.

"We want our parks and green spaces to be places that local people are proud of, and that means investing in facilities that families, children and young people actually want to use. This £135,000 investment is a fantastic opportunity to breathe new life into the existing BMX track at Lyme Valley and create something that will benefit the community for years to come. But before the final plans are agreed, we want to hear from the people who will be using it. Whether you’re a keen rider, a parent or simply someone who enjoys Lyme Valley, please come along, look at the proposals and tell us what you think. This is about listening to local people and making sure we get the investment right."

These proposals follow the recent opening of a new pump track at Bradwell Dingle, part of a £500,000 transformation funded by developer contributions, which also included new outdoor gym equipment and an expanded playground.

"We are determined to make our parks and green spaces better for the people who use them, and residents are already seeing the difference that investment can make. From the improvements at Bradwell Dingle to the plans for Lyme Valley, we are putting money into the facilities that matter to local families and communities. Good quality parks aren’t just nice to have. They give children somewhere to play, encourage people to be active and help make our Borough a better place to live. We want to keep delivering these improvements across Newcastle-under-Lyme, and I would encourage everyone with an interest in Lyme Valley to get involved and help shape what comes next."
