A comprehensive scheme to enhance main roads in Stone town centre has now been completed, following extensive improvements across several key streets.

The extensive scheme has seen improvements on roads including Crown Street, Newcastle Street, Station Road, Granville Square, Christchurch Way and Radford Street. Works included repairs to kerbs, footways, drains and the installation of tactile crossing points. Final resurfacing was completed last week.
Patrick Allen, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Support Member for Highways, stated that the scheme was significant and important for Stone, promising huge improvements for motorists in the thriving town centre.
“

"Our project team has worked hard to complete the scheme on schedule, coordinating the start with the school summer holidays to minimise disruption as well as carrying out the recent overnight resurfacing."

"We do appreciate that any major scheme, particularly in town centres, will be disruptive, so we’d again like to thank people for their patience and understanding while work has taken place. This demonstrates our commitment to ensuring we have good quality roads across the county and it’s great to see the scheme completed."
