“"Occupational Therapy Week is an opportunity to recognise the invaluable contribution our occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants make in communities across Warwickshire. This year's theme, Participation Changes Everything, reflects the heart of occupational therapy - helping people of all ages do the things that matter most to them. Through early intervention, practical support and personalised solutions, occupational therapy helps residents maintain their independence, improve their wellbeing and stay connected to their families, friends and communities. We are proud to celebrate the dedication of our teams and the positive difference they make to people every day so that they can live well in Warwickshire."

Warwickshire County Council is celebrating Occupational Therapy Week 2026, highlighting the vital role of its occupational therapists and assistants in enabling residents to live independent and fulfilling lives.
The council is shining a spotlight on the outstanding work of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants across Adult Social Care, Learning Disabilities, the Home Environment Assessment and Response Team (HEART), and the Reablement Service. Real-life stories demonstrate that early intervention by occupational therapists helps people stay well for longer, prevent crises, support recovery, and reduce long-term care needs.
Every day, these professionals assist Warwickshire residents in regaining confidence, improving personal safety, and maintaining independence within their own homes. One resident, who received support, commented: "Thank you, I feel safer now with track hoist fitted". Another family member described how equipment provided by an occupational therapist gave them reassurance that their 96-year-old mother could remain safe at home.
Occupational therapists work with individuals to identify practical solutions, such as home adaptations or new approaches to tasks, which can significantly impact confidence, wellbeing, and the ability to live independently. The Reablement Service provides person-centred support to help people regain skills, while the HEART team offers tailored housing adaptations and grants. The Learning Disabilities team provides specialist support for adults and children to live as independently as possible.
Occupational therapy is part of Warwickshire’s Integrated Care service. Residents assessed with eligible needs can access occupational therapy by visiting the Warwickshire County Council website. Further information about Occupational Therapy Week can be found on the RCOT website, and a free online self-assessment tool, AskSARA, offers personalised advice on assistive technologies and equipment for daily living.
