North Warwickshire Borough Council is inviting residents, businesses, and community organisations to provide feedback on the final draft of its Local Plan, a crucial document guiding future development until 2045.

The consultation period for the Regulation 19 draft Local Plan opens on 16 October and will run until 27 November 2026. This is the final stage of public consultation before the plan is submitted for independent examination by the Secretary of State.
This final draft has been shaped by extensive consultation and engagement with residents, businesses, and community organisations. The plan identifies where new homes and employment opportunities could be delivered, while also setting out policies to protect the natural environment, heritage assets, and the character of North Warwickshire's towns, villages, and countryside.
Key policy areas covered include housing and affordable housing, employment and economic growth, environmental protection, green spaces, heritage, rural communities, community facilities, Gypsy and Traveller accommodation, and sustainable development.

"The Local Plan is one of the most important documents the Council produces, as it helps shape how North Warwickshire could grow and develop over the coming years. It is about planning for the future of our communities by identifying where new homes and employment opportunities could be delivered, while also protecting the character of our towns and villages, our countryside and the things that make North Warwickshire such a special place to live and work."

Councillor David Wright · Leader of North Warwickshire Borough Council

"We've already received valuable feedback from residents, businesses and community organisations during earlier stages of the Local Plan review, and that feedback has helped shape the final draft now being published for consultation. One of the key areas of concern and comment has been on housing site allocations. Like all Councils, we have a target that contributes to the 1.5 million homes that government say need to be built over the current parliamentary period (5 years). For our area we have been set a target of 7,280 homes over the plan period which is about 1 house per day."

"I would encourage everyone to take a look at the plan and let us know what they think, whether they have commented previously or are getting involved for the first time. Every response received will be considered as we move towards the next stage of the process."
