Young entrepreneurs in Warwickshire generated approximately £1,700 in sales at the latest Teenage Market event in Bedworth, held on Saturday 19 September.

The event, which welcomed eighteen aspiring traders aged between 13 and 25 years old, took place at Bedworth’s Indoor Market venue. Traders sold over 450 products, showcasing a diverse range of creative businesses to local residents and visitors. This initiative aimed to provide young people with valuable real-world business experience, build confidence, and develop entrepreneurial skills.
Delivered by Warwickshire County Council in partnership with Believe in Bedworth, Place for Youth CIC, Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action, and Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, the market also attracted families and visitors, highlighting the positive contribution of young people to town centres.
This was the eighth Teenage Market held across Warwickshire this year, part of a county-wide programme that has offered over 100 trading opportunities. Since its launch, participating traders have generated more than £12,000 in sales, with significant reported improvements in confidence and business skills among participants.
Councillor Rob Howard, Warwickshire County Council Portfolio Holder for Economy and Rural Development, praised the programme for showcasing the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of young people. He stated, "These events provide young people with valuable opportunities to develop new skills, build confidence and gain experience of running a business in a supportive environment."
Alongside the market, Rachel Taylor MP visited the event. Representatives from Believe in Bedworth also engaged with residents regarding future investment priorities through the town's Pride in Place programme.
Marina Kitchen, Programme Director for Believe in Bedworth, commented on the "real buzz" the market brought to the Market Hall, while Joe Barratt, Director of Place for Youth CIC, noted the fantastic response from communities across Warwickshire and the strong support for young entrepreneurs.
Following the success in Bedworth, further Teenage Markets are scheduled across Warwickshire. These include events in Warwick on 28 October, Rugby on 21 November, Kenilworth on 27 November, and another in Bedworth on 29 November.
Young people aged 13 to 25 interested in selling crafts, artwork, gifts, food, fashion, or other creative products are encouraged to register on the Teenage Market website to apply for a stall.
