The town centre will be illuminated with traditional Indian dance and music, a Scottish Pipe Band, and various cultural performances. Over 30 stalls will offer Indian cuisine, traditional crafts, and artefacts. The event is organised by the Rugby Indian Association and supported by Rugby Borough Council.
A highlight of the celebration will be a Lantern Parade through the town centre, inviting everyone to participate. The festivities will culminate in the official Diwali light switch-on, led by the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Nooria Sayani.
“"Rugby has an incredibly diverse community which continues to grow. Holding the event in the town centre helps showcase and support that diversity, while also providing a wonderful opportunity to support local businesses."
Cllr Ish Mistry, one of the organisers, highlighted the event's role in showcasing and supporting the town's diverse community and local businesses. He also extended thanks to Asda for allowing the use of their car park.
The free-to-attend event is open to families, friends, neighbours, and visitors. For more information, visit www.therugbytown.co.uk or follow the Rugby Indian Association on social media.
