Springdale Primary School has received praise from Ofsted inspectors for its highly inclusive culture, with pupils feeling well-supported and valued as individuals.
Inspectors visiting Springdale Primary School last month noted the school's 'highly inclusive culture where pupils are known well and receive support that reflects their individual needs and circumstances'. The report, published recently, found that leaders ensure pupils feel welcome from the moment they join, with staff collaborating closely with families and external professionals to swiftly address any barriers to learning or wellbeing. This approach results in pupils engaging confidently in school life and their education.
The report specifically highlights the effective support for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Staff demonstrate a strong understanding of pupils' strengths and needs, adapting learning to foster success. The school's speech and language resource base is identified as a particular strength, where personalised experiences and specialist training contribute to improvements in pupils' communication skills, behaviour, and independence over time.
Pupils at Springdale express a 'real sense of belonging', feeling known and valued as individuals by the staff. They speak positively about their school, describing adults as kind and helpful. The school's 'SHINE' values – safe, happy, included, nurtured, and enthusiastic – guide pupils' care for themselves and others.
Inspectors observed that pupils leave Springdale equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills for secondary school. The report acknowledges improvements demonstrating the 'positive impact of leaders' actions to strengthen pupils' foundational knowledge and skills'. Notably, the school's most recent Key Stage 2 outcomes surpassed the national average for the first time.
Further praise is given to the school's 'broad and ambitious curriculum', positive relationships, and strong focus on pupil wellbeing. Pupils benefit from a range of enrichment opportunities, supported by pastoral care that helps them build confidence and overcome learning barriers.
Under Ofsted's new inspection framework, Springdale Primary School achieved a Strong Standard for Inclusion and an Expected Standard across Achievement, Attendance and behaviour, Curriculum and teaching, Early years, Leadership and governance, and Personal development and wellbeing. Safeguarding standards are also met.

"I am incredibly proud of how far Springdale Primary School has come over the last 3 years. This positive Ofsted outcome reflects the dedication, passion and hard work of our entire school community – together, we have driven significant improvements in both the quality of education and pupil outcomes, with results continuing to rise year on year. In 2026, 77% of our mainstream pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Maths combined, with 11% achieving Greater Depth. These achievements are a testament to the commitment of our staff, the resilience of our children and the strong partnerships we have with our families. While we are proud of these outcomes, we remain ambitious and committed to providing the very best education for every child at Springdale."
