The Sandwell Colleges’ Big Yellow T Level Bus is back on the road for National T Levels Week, visiting secondary schools across the Black Country and Birmingham to showcase technical education.
The T Level Roadshow will visit schools to highlight the range of T Levels offered at Sandwell College and Cadbury Sixth Form College, including digital, health, building and surveying, engineering, and marketing. The bus provides young people with hands-on experience of the skills and career opportunities these industry-focused qualifications offer.
The roadshow will offer pupils the chance to meet expert staff, hear about employer partnerships for T Level placements, and engage in 'have a go' activities. These include digital coding with a robot dog, exploring human anatomy with iPads, VR nursery simulations for early years careers, and interactive 3D printed engines for engineering interests.
Visitors can also learn about the colleges' industry-standard campuses, including the new dedicated healthcare training facility at the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. This facility allows T Level Health students to train in clinical settings with placement opportunities at the neighbouring hospital.
Staff from Sandwell and Cadbury College will be on hand to address myths about T Levels and explain their benefits for students seeking a bright future. The colleges are also hosting on-campus events with guest speakers from Speakers Trust and Balfour Beatty.
The week will conclude with an Employer Skills Pledge signing with Moundsley Hall Care Village, who support the T Level Health programme at Cadbury Sixth Form College through placements. T Levels are two-year courses, equivalent to 3 A Levels, developed with employers to equip students with necessary skills, including at least 45 days of industry placement.
“
"T Levels offer a high-quality technical qualification, developed in collaboration with employers to meet the evolving needs of industry. “
"This government is determined to give technical and vocational education the same status and recognition as the academic route. T Levels are showing what is possible when high-quality education is combined with meaningful industry experience, enabling more young people to gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to thrive."
Sandwell Colleges are expanding their T Level provision, offering courses in Digital Software Development, Health, Education & Early Years, Engineering, Business Management, Cyber Security, Legal Services, Marketing, and Media Broadcast & Production. A new T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning will be available from 2027.
