The donation will be used to purchase new wellington boots and waterproof clothing, helping to replace some dated outdoor gear at the centre, which has been operating for over 50 years.
Located in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside, the centre provides children and young people with experiences that connect them with nature. Activities include studying local ecosystems and wildlife, as well as orienteering, navigation, and team-building exercises.
Persimmon Homes Midlands, which has developments in Towcester, Harlestone, and Dallington, stated that the contribution reflects their commitment to being good neighbours and supporting the communities where they build.
“"We at Persimmon Homes value being good neighbours and contributing to communities where we are building. So we’re obviously thrilled to be able to support the Everdon Outdoor Learning Centre continue to provide young people in West Northants access to nature."
Paul Stones added: “I’m proud that this is just the latest of thousands of pounds of community contributions we’ve made throughout Northamptonshire, alongside our own Community Champions scheme – which I urge any community group looking for support to apply for.”
Councillor Nigel Stansfield, Cabinet Member for Environment, Recycling and Waste at West Northamptonshire Council, highlighted the centre's importance. “Everdon Outdoor Learning Centre is a vital resource for local children and community groups, giving them access to a rural setting to understand more about nature, wildlife and the local environment,” he said.
Cllr Stansfield expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the new wellies and waterproofs will ensure children can continue to enjoy the centre comfortably in all weather conditions.
