Residents across West Northamptonshire are invited to free digital support sessions at local libraries during Get Online Week 2026, running from 20 to 27 October.

As digital skills become increasingly vital for daily life, including accessing healthcare, managing finances, and using public services, libraries in West Northants will provide practical assistance. The initiative aims to help residents build confidence with technology.
A variety of free activities are planned, such as Tea & Tech drop-ins, one-to-one digital support, guidance on using the NHS App, and workshops in partnership with AbilityNet. Support will cover using smartphones, tablets, and computers, safe online service access, and general digital navigation skills.
A key focus will be on the NHS App, assisting residents with account creation, appointment management, repeat prescriptions, and accessing other digital health services securely.
These events build upon the year-round digital support offered by libraries, which includes free computer and Wi-Fi access, help with online council and health services, and digital learning resources. They also complement the Live Longer Better Collection, promoting healthier and more connected lives.
“

"Digital skills are now an essential part of everyday life, but we know that many people can still find technology daunting. Our libraries provide welcoming, trusted spaces where residents can access free support, learn new skills and gain the confidence to use online services independently. I would encourage residents to visit their local library and get involved."

Cllr Charlie Hastie · Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities at WNC
Specific events include an NHS App Support Drop-In at Northampton Central Library on Tuesday 20 October (10am-12pm), and a Tech Support Session at Weston Favell Library on the same day (10am-11am). Other sessions include BorrowBox & PressReader guidance, Tea & Tech Drop-Ins, device advice, and digital skills workshops.
While most sessions are free and open to drop-in visitors, some may require advance booking. Residents can contact their local library for more information on events in their area.
