“"We want children and young people with SEND, and the people who support them, to help shape our future plans. This survey is an opportunity to tell us what matters most and help ensure services meet the needs of local families. I encourage everyone with an interest in SEND to take part and share their views."

A diverse group of people discussing future plans for SEND support in West Northamptonshire.
West Northamptonshire Council is inviting parents, carers, professionals, children, and young people to contribute to a new draft strategy for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support.
West Northamptonshire Council and its partners have launched a public consultation on the Draft SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027-2030, encouraging widespread participation. The strategy aims to provide children and young people with SEND the right support, in the right place, at the right time, enabling them to thrive.
Developed through extensive engagement with families, young people, and professionals from education, health, and social care, the strategy is built around six key priorities: Voice, information and trust; Earlier help and inclusion; Joined-up specialist support; Local sufficiency and stability; Transitions and preparation for adulthood; and Whole-family wellbeing.
The consultation offers residents, families, and professionals the chance to comment on the proposed priorities and ambitions before the strategy is finalised. Feedback will ensure the final document reflects local experiences and focuses on areas that will make the greatest difference.
The consultation is open for two weeks, closing at midnight on Wednesday 21 October. The draft strategy and survey are available on the council's website. Alternative formats and support are available for those who need assistance participating.
