“"Good quality housing is at the heart of strong communities and better life chances. Our Housing Strategy sets out how we'll work with partners to increase affordable housing, prevent homelessness, improve housing standards and support residents to live independently. We want to hear from as many people as possible. Whether you're a tenant, homeowner, landlord, developer or community organisation, your feedback will help shape the final strategy and ensure it reflects the needs of our communities."

West Northamptonshire Council has launched a public consultation on its draft Housing Strategy 2027-2032, inviting residents and stakeholders to help shape future housing services and investment across the area.
The draft strategy outlines plans to increase the supply of affordable homes, enhance support for vulnerable residents, improve housing standards, and promote independent living. It will serve as the framework for housing services and investment over the next five years, detailing how the Council will collaborate with partners to address rising housing demand, combat homelessness, foster sustainable communities, and ensure access to safe, suitable, and affordable housing.
Developed using evidence of housing needs, service data, and stakeholder feedback, the strategy is centred around four key priorities: delivering necessary homes including affordable and specialist options; becoming a high-performing landlord with safe, well-maintained properties; supporting independent living and resilient communities through early intervention and homelessness prevention; and strengthening the private rented sector by improving standards and tenancy sustainment.
Recognising the crucial role of housing in health, wellbeing, and life opportunities, the strategy aims for all residents in West Northamptonshire to have a home that enables them to thrive. The consultation is open to residents, council tenants, landlords, developers, community organisations, and partner agencies.
Residents and stakeholders can view the draft Housing Strategy and complete the online survey via the Council’s website. The consultation closes at midnight on Sunday 29 November 2026.
