Preparatory work has been taking place throughout the summer on the former Elizabeth House site, near pathology, to prepare for the installation of new generators.
To support the safe delivery and installation of the generators, ground works to prepare for the arrival of the crane, and the generator delivery will commence in the turning circle at the bottom of the metal stairs near pathology from today, Monday 2 November.
Heras fencing will be in place around the work area to maintain safety while work is taking place. Pedestrian access to the main hospital will be maintained during the works, except when the crane is actively lifting equipment. These lifts will take place overnight to minimise disruption.
The crane lifts are scheduled to take place overnight from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 December. During these periods, pedestrian access to the main hospital via pathology will be unavailable only while the crane lifts are taking place. Vehicles exiting the hospital will be temporarily diverted from Evolution Road into the staff car park during delivery windows. These diversions will only be in place for short periods overnight.
The public are advised to follow any temporary signage and directions from staff and contractors while the works are underway. The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust thanked the public for their continued support as they progress with construction.
