The City of Wolverhampton Council and its partners are inviting residents to shape the new SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027-2029 through various consultation sessions.

Developed in collaboration with education providers, health and care services, voluntary organisations, and families, the strategy outlines Wolverhampton's vision for an inclusive system where children and young people with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND) receive timely and appropriate support. It details how the City of Wolverhampton Council and its partners will collaborate to transform the local SEND system.
Families are encouraged to participate in consultation sessions to learn more about the strategy, ask questions, and share their views before its final approval. Councillor Jacqui Coogan, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education, stated, "Every child and young person deserves to feel included, valued and supported to achieve their potential. The All Means All Inclusion Plan is all about making sure children and young people with SEND are safe and able to thrive and we want to get this right – we need to hear from as many people as possible, so please get involved and help shape the final strategy."
Several consultation opportunities are available. Virtual sessions will be held via Microsoft Teams on Tuesday 20 October from 11am to 12pm and Wednesday 21 October from 7pm to 8pm. Additionally, a drop-in session will take place at The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton on Saturday 24 October from 10am to 12:30pm, during its weekly SEND Squad session. Parents and carers are welcome to bring their children.
To book a place at any consultation session, individuals should email nicola.harris2@wolverhampton.gov.uk, providing their name, preferred session, any accessibility requirements, and if they plan to attend The Way with a child or young person.
For young people aged 11 to 25, HY5!, the city's SEND Forum, is hosting a consultation event at Cherry Street SEND and Sensory Hub on 3 November. Booking is available via eventbrite. An easy read survey is also accessible online to gather views and experiences.
The consultation on the draft All Means All SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027 to 2029 concludes on Sunday 8 November. Further information and the opportunity to share views can be found at SEND and Inclusion Strategy 2027-2029.
